Referrals & rebates
You don’t need a referral to make an appointment with us. However, without a referral under a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for paying the full fee for each consultation, without receiving a Medicare rebate.
You will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP to claim back a Medicare rebate on your psychology sessions. You or your GP can email a copy of your MHCP and referral prior to your first appointment to contact@placepsychology.com.au.
- How to get a Mental Health Care Plan
- Book an appointment with your GP and request a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP).
- Ask the GP’s admin staff to email us the MHTP and/or get a copy of your MHTPso you can email it to us
- You will then be eligible for 6 discounted sessions (there is a Medicare rebate which covers a portion of the fee).
- After these 6 sessions, if needed, you can access an additional 4 discounted sessions up to a limit of 10 each calendar year. To do this, make another appointment with your GP to discuss eligibility and if they agree there is a need for more sessions they will extend your MHTP.
